If you have an older solar PV system and still receive feed-in tariff (FIT) payments, we can install an AC-coupled battery while keeping your current solar system and tariff structure in place.

FIT customers are paid based on “deemed export”, typically calculated as 50% of the electricity the solar system generates – regardless of how much electricity is actually being exported. This means you can store surplus solar energy for later use, while still receiving FIT export payments under the deemed export calculation.

    Battery storage systems can be installed in two main ways: AC-coupled or DC-coupled. The right option depends on whether you already have solar, how your system is configured, and what you want the battery to achieve.

    AC-coupled battery systems

    AC-coupled batteries are typically used when adding storage to an existing solar PV system. They connect into your home’s electricity supply alongside your current solar setup, allowing a battery to be added without replacing the existing inverter.

    DC-coupled battery systems

    DC-coupled batteries are typically installed as part of a new solar + battery system, where the battery is integrated directly with the hybrid inverter. This can be a streamlined and efficient approach when designing a system from scratch.
